SOUND
David Carroll has been involved in audio recording and event/theatrical sound
for over 30 years. He has worked as a studio recording engineer, live event
sound engineer, and FM radio station technical director. He has recorded
jazz records and CDs. He has also been production sound engineer and boom
operator for several independent film productions.
LIGHTS
David has extensive experience in theatrical and photographic lighting. He has been
lighting director for a number of theatrical productions, and has been an avid photographer since high school.
He is an active glamour and figure still photographer and uses studio lighting regularly.
CAMERA
David first shot black and white photographs in grade school with a Kodak Brownie 120 camera
and developed them in his basement darkroom. His fater gave him an 8mm Movie camera and he made
home movies through high school. Durng the same period, he had graduated to a 35mm Pentax still camera of his own.
He worked as a staff photographer on school newspaper and annual at the high schools he attended.
More recently, David has been camera operator or DP on several features shot on Digital Video with Sony, Panasonic,
and Canon digital video cameras.
EDITING
David has taken classes and edited several digital video movie projects including full length features. He
has also produced several trade show and demo productions for his work at Sony Electronics.
He has used Vegas 6, Adobe Premiere, and Apple Final Cut Pro editing applications.
He has also encoded and authored a number of DVDs.
EQUIPMENT
Sidereal Productions has a full complement of equipment for Digital Video short and feature film production in both DV and HDV formats, including Sony HDR-FX1 16:9 DV/HDV camera, monitors, lights, high quality condenser microphones, boom, mixer, Sony DAT recorder. Software includes Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Encore DVD, Vegas 6, Ultra 2, Visual Communicator, DVFilm 24p converter, etc. We also have a high quality Nikon D70s Digital SLR camera.
